Yep, another mini update to fill some time until I do the main update. Managed to snag the wordpress app for the Blackberry so I’m posting this from my bed as I can’t sleep at the moment.

Well, she said yes. We got married on Saturday. It was ace. The best day of my life so far.

I’ll post some pictures when I get some as i’m waiting on other people to send them to me (I didn’t take a camera, I was somewhat busy as you can imagine )

Wedding plans are going well, its only2 months to the wedding now and things are starting to come together.  We have the dresses (Bride and Bridesmaids) sorted.  Suits are hired (need one usher to go for his fitting yet).  The cake has been picked (mmm vanilla sponge) etc.  Most of the stuff has been paid for and we are just waiting for people to RSVP their invitations to see whom is actually coming.

We are both looking forward to the big day.  It should be a wonderful one-off spectacular day to remember for sure.

Tomorrow I and 11 others are off to my Stag Do in the lake district.  I’m just hoping they have nothing out of the ordinary planned for me.. I think they’d know better as Laura will probably kill anyone who does anything to me

We are staying in a lovely cottage in Edderside (near Allonby) and will be Go Karting and Clay Pigeon shooting and also going for a few strolls in the hills no doubt.  I’m really looking forward to it, if not a little nervous as I want everyone to have a good time.

A bike ride to the airport today.  The wind was blowing in the right direction so we saw planes landing over our heads today rather than them taking off like the last time.

Ladies and gentlemen, you join us on this auspicious occasion of the unveiling and christening of the Shower installed in the new bathroom by Alan, Dave and AJ.  Three finer and no less stout fellow can surely never be found in the four corners of our very fair shire.
Verily, it was on the Monday, the twenty sixth of the fine month of January in the year of 2009 that the Owen household in Birchwood was dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.  Long had we had the delights of Electricity, running water and sliced bread but no young listeners, this was bigger than the sum of those parts.  Gingerly I crept in to the room of Bath and with apprehension I pulled the isolator switch, and the beast was brought upon this earth with an almost silent hum that belied its otherworldy attributes.
Pulling the shower curtain around me felt like the fog that one experiences on a lonely sailing vessel on the waters of one of the many lakes in the lake district, lonely, restricting, silent.  I pressed the power button and the water came rushing forth like some mightly dam had just burst and, rejoice, the cleansing purity of the water did clean my spirit of all impurities.
Hail brother.  Hail to the great power of the Power Shower. Life will never be the same again.

A big big thanks to Alan (Laura’s dad) for putting in the hard work reworking, rebuilding and installing the new bathroom.  It really is a totally new room and now the Shower has just topped it off nicely.  Couldn’t have done it without you and I am eternally grateful.

Wedding plans are proceeding well.  We have most things booked, the location, the registrar, the DJ, the chairs, the flowers, the bridesmaid dresses, the suits etc .. its all coming along swimmingly.  We booked our Honeymoon to Cyprus for 10 days at the Hotel St George in Paphos.  We had a slight glitch with the bridesmaid dresses in that they have stopped one of the colours we had picked, but this was quickly fixed by choosing a different dress in the old colour.
We have picked our Wedding Rings.  Mine needs to be checked to see if they have it in my Ring size (U).  Its a nice ring though and I really like it so I hope they can find it.

We now have a mortgage on our house, it went through in September so we bought it just as the ass fell out of the market bigtime … nice.  Still, its a roof over our heads and its ours.  Thus we have been decorating like there is no tomorrow at the moment, every weekend or spare night we get is spent decorating or preparing to decorate (least thats how it seems).  Still it *will* be worth it in the end, i’m certain of that,

In my last but 2 post (dated 31st august) I said i’d post more about contacting members of my family about the wedding.  The reason this is a difficult subject is that I haven’t seen or heard from my mother since I was 9 years old (22 years ago now) so I do not know if she still lives in the same house or if she is even alive.  For simplicities sake I tend to just tell people she is dead but I do not know and something as major as news of my wedding should be passed on to her.  I’ve asked my other brothers and sisters to see if they have information about her but they are also estrainged from her when she didn’t reply to information about the passing away of my father.  So i’ve got a few ideas on how to contact her, one is to just send a letter to the address I have for her anyway and see what happens.  The other is to check the Electoral role or the Births, Deaths and Marriages roles for Rochdale to see if she is in there.  This obviously means a trip to Rochdale at some point so i’ll do that when I get round to it.  She deserves to know and then its up to her if she wants to attend and try to rebuild a few bridges.  Lets see what happens with that one.

Well, that was a bit of a battle, once i’d done the update, my custom theme didn’t work as planned, then my plugins needed updating and other tweaks …
All working now though, time to sleep.
